On Friday I'll take the plane with the other Toulousain (5 people, Cyrille from Krita is flying tomorrow) to head to Glasgow. If you take KL 1477 from Amsterdam to Glasgow be sure to ask for a seat at the back of the plane so we'll all be together and start having fun!
I'm starting to prepare my stuff and to explain to Clarisse (nearly 16 months) that I'll be away for 6 days. I'll miss Leah's school fair in the process which was a bit difficult to explain to Leah as usually I'm quite active in that sort of things.
It's hard to explain to people what I'm doing in KDE. People know me as a parent, a mum at home or a wife. Having no paid job does not get me a social rank. They usually have trouble understanding what Free Software is and precisely what KDE is. Only my husband and kids see and understand the two sides of me. So when I tell people I'll be in Scotland for a week in order to work on a free project they set themselves in bug mode!

LOL
I think it's safe to say that even if we (the KDE community) only see the hacker side of you, we still understand what you mean: many of us also have "two sides" !
Wish you a fun and productive week at aKademy!
Cool, we are on the same plane as you. I hope we will get a seat in the back.
See you tomorrow,
Bart
greetings from Wendy.
I know exactly how you feel, the look you get from people when you explain that you are going to Scotland for a week to work on a voluntary free software project. And that you are paying for the whole trip as well :)
BTW, I am already here in Glasgow. If you have not done so, pack a light umbrella...
