Free Educational Software and Free Software in general are definitively gaining popularity in schools. There exists now several Edu Linux Distributions, the latest being Edubuntu which features nearly all KDE-Edu applications (while being Gnome based for the desktop). Skolelinux is spreading and will be present at aKademy, last year we also had a Meduxa representative at aKademy. Of course only few schools use Linux-based networks yet but they are more and more concious about Free Software, thanks to Firefox and Open Office.
Wikipedia also is now widely used and makes the idea of Free Software more prominent. A new project is starting: Wikijunior and offers us new tools.
So it's time to define KDE-Edu objectives for KDE4 and start working on that! A wikipage has been opened by Pino who will lead a Bof at aKademy. Start contributing by adding your ideas and then join the KDE-Edu project to be part of one of the biggest challenge in Free Software for the third millenium: break the schools walls and give the same chance to all kids to reach education using Free tools.
