I should have departed from Toulouse (France) airport to Boston today, via Paris, to go to FOSSCAMP and Ubuntu Developer Summit. I should have arrived in Boston at 3:00pm and then leave Tuesday on 8:00 pm. Usually trips go OK. Even my husband who always loses his luggage manages to get at destination, sometimes a few hours late but he always made it. Well I failed boarding my plane due to a Air France strike. The Toulouse - Paris flight was OK but the Paris - Boston had only a limited number of seats as there was not enough flight attendants and in Paris people could register before us for this flight and got the seats. In Toulouse they did not want passengers going to Paris and being stuck... Further more, as the strike is on until Monday evening, they did not "have a solution for me" until Tuesday. Which was the day I was scheduled to leave Boston. So I got back home at 11h15 am, tired, very disappointed and having eating nothing for breakfast... I was meant to share room with Seele and to meet lots of new and interesting people. I had prepared myself very well and it would also have been my first time in the USA. I checked the internet and news yesterday evening and I had my seat numbers in the Paris - Boston flight, they said long haul flights were 100% OK! The strike got worse today and 1 flight out of 3 is cancelled, according to TV news.
I wish the KDE crew in Boston success during FOSSCAMP and I deeply regret not being there...

I'm sorry for your trip...
oh noes! maybe i will see you at the kde4 event in january?
I can imagine how you feel ... I was not given visa into the U.S., so I couldn't come either.
Oh, wow, that sucks deeply... Really unfortunate. Lets hope such a thing won't happen for the edu meeting in paris ;-)
Thanks for your support. Celeste, yes I hope we'll meet in January, let's see how it goes. Not easy to set up as I have to get my husband to look after the kids full time!
He bought me the latest Nightwish to ease the disappointment.
mhb: that sucks even more to have the visa rejected.
Jos: I hope the Edu meeting will go OK, it's bad for France to have transports paralyzed that way. TV said 54% of long hauls were cancelled today...
