Today I wrote my first Perl script ever. It converts some text files for KHangMan data to kvtml format, a very simple xml format used in kdeedu programs. Each word can have its definition according to the level and playing KHangMan can be easier if you choose to enable hints. With that script, the translators will only have to fill in the definition (which is not easy) and not to port to the kvtml format. Scripting can greatly speed things and Perl is fun although my script is just newbie stuff.
I was thinking today how voluntary work is quite the same than Open Source. By voluntary work I mean helping at schools, being Scout leader, and so on. People give their time for free in order to fullfill an ideology, in order to make the world a better place...
